Pearl City's marching band has performed at numerous parades and shows. Performing locally, nationally, and internationally, the band has acquired a reputation of excellence and for always doing the unexpected. Along with Pearl City's own high school football games, the band has made appearances at the Pro Bowl (now for 14 years in a row), numerous UH games, the latest being the UH vs. Colorado (shown above), the Bandfest in Pasadena, California for the Rose Festivals (shown below), and this Christmas, the Blue and Gray All-Star Game in Montgomery, Alabama.

The band has also marched in numerous community parades, as well as other parades including the Ginza parade in Tokyo, Japan, the Macy's Thanksgivings Day parade in New York, Hawaii's own Aloha Week Parade, and the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasedena, California. Their second appearance at the parade was on January 1, 1996, where the band was given the honor of leading the parade as unit number 1, a honor never given to any band previously.

Dr. David A. Wells

Dr. David Wells

Teaching the band it's field show is Boise State University band director Dr. David A. Wells. Dr. Wells, one of the best show designers in the nation, has worked with Pearl City's band for 21 years now and is the only high school band he helps. During a week long camp in the summer, Dr. Wells teaches the band it's field show. Dr. Wells also runs Cavalcade, USA, a band camp that he holds across the nation to spread his knowledge of excellence.

During the week long camp in the summer, Dr. Wells looks at the band and chooses the best sections in the band. To recognize the most outstanding sections. The sections that work hard for perfection. This year the honor was split between two sections: the French Horn section and the Percussion section. But along with the "best section" award, there is another award for an individual marcher who stands out of the band. A person who goes up and beyond the call of duty. This year this prestigious award goes to Senior Percussionist Kristi Lopez.
