The installer must posses the ability to read and understand diagrams and blueprints describing the layout of a duct system. On occasion, the installer may have to make 'judgement calls' on practical application and location of equipment.
Must posses detailed and extensive knowledge regarding:
- industry standards and code/ordinance requirements.
- equipment installation and hook-up.
- control wiring.
- duct installation and joining procedures.
- flue exhaust requirements and applications.
- airflow principles, static pressure and requirements.
- basic electrical principles and applications.
- basic principles and applications of gas piping.
- soldering/braising techniques and applications.
