~~~ The TRAIN / Retrograde ~~~

Retrograde is an illusion. The most common explanation is that of 2 trains passing each other at different SPEEDS (planets move at different speeds). Anyway one train appears to be going backwards as the faster one passes. Put these 2 trains on a circular track (consider the picture below a track) and you will notice that as one turns away from the other [put the faster one on the inside track (around a Xmas tree for instance)] it will appear to be going backwards until it gets to the other side of the track (circle). Then it will appear to be going in the same direction as the slower moving outer train. You can visualize this by watching any train going around a circular track.

Imagine yourself standing on a mountain watching a train in the valley going around a circular track (circling the track below). You are the Earth. The town is the Sun and the train is Mercury. Is the train in front of the town (closer to you and in plain view)? Let's make sure the train is moving in a counter-clockwise direction. Is it to the right of the town about to go behind the town? At some point the train will appear to stop and change direction. (Remember this is just a point of illusion but if there is ENERGY being thrown off a planet this would be a point of concentrated ENERGY) (Station). Now the train moves behind the town (Sun). (From your position on the mountain it will then move left). It becomes difficult to see as the buildings in the town block it from view. (This would be the Shadow zone). It also appears to be moving backwards. We know it is not. Then it reaches the other side of the town. It once again reaches a point at which it appears to change direction (Direct). Another point of increased ENERGY. It once again is in front of the town (Sun) and Freely can be seen moving to the right. (This would be it's Free zone).

During the time the train is behind the town (Sun) it becomes difficult to see because things are in the way. This is why many Astrologers consider Retrogrades to be difficult times. I don't agree. Actually if the train we are talking about is an over consuming ENERGY in your chart it can actually be a time of relaxation since it's ENERGY is now blocked giving you time to focus on other things.
