QUESTION:

I have to go out of town on business trips quite frequently and have a
question on the wajib namaz that I miss during the trip.  When I pray the
qaza namaaz to make them up, should my niyyat be for qasr (2 rakath) or
for the full namaaz (4 rakath). 


ANSWER:

I should stress first that there is not a single reason for anyone to
miss a prayer whatever the circumstance be. 

As far as your question is concerned, your duty in Qhada (making up of
past duties) is to make the prayer as you were supposed to do it when you
missed it. If your travel was a permissable one, then you make up your
prayer 2 rakats. if your travel was not an allowed one in Islam, then
your duty is to make 4 rakats.
