Question:

I understand that gold is considered haram for men to wear, I have tried to
find a reason behind this matter. I would appreciate if someone can answer
this question.

Answer:

It is prohibited for men to adorn themselves with gold based on the evidence
from the hadith literature.  Allah (s.w.t.)'s decrees are based on wisdom
and inherent value of the act, thus, we can rest assured that the
prohibition is not arbitrary. I am told that there is a scietific study
conducted that shows certain chemicals are released from gold which could be
harmful for men but not for women.
