Question:

Ayat. Sistani in his risallah on the things which make prayer invalid states:

* Seventh:- The seventh thing which makes namaz void is an intentional loud
laugh. And if the laugh is uncontrollable, or involuntary, if what prompted
it in the first place was intentional, or for that matter, inadvertant, the
namaz will be void. But if one laughs loudly unintentionally, or if he
purposely laughs without emitting any voice, there is no harm.

1160. * If in order to control his laughter, the condition of the person in
namaz changes, like, if the colour of his face turns red, he should, as an
obligatory precaution, pray again.

My question is this: I am wondering whether smiling alone, without emitting
a noise, invalidates the prayer. By what is said: "...or if he purposely
laughs without emitting any voice, there is no harm..." I do not understand
if this is pertaining to smiling or not.
It is also said: "If in order to control his laughter, the condition of the
person in namaz changes..." Again I do not know if this is in reference to
smiling.

A clarification on this issue would be greatly appreciated, with the 
conclusion of whether smiling during namaz without emitting noise or sound
invalidates the namaz. (based on the ruling of Ayat. Sistani)

Answer: Smiling does not invalidate one's Namaz, whether done deliberately
or otherwise.
