The following questions were kindly answered by Mulla Asgher.

Question:
1. I still have a few weeks of qadha left from a while back (few months). I
do intend to catch up on all of them Insha'Allah. I read somewhere that one
cannot pray sunnah prayers or it will not be accepted until all the
obligatory prayers are performed.
a) Is this true?
b)Also I regretfully began praying all 5 daily prayers only a year or so ago
and my age is 22. Does that mean I have to perform all the qadha left from
before (some say from 7 years of age and some say 14 years and 9 months -
please correct what age I must have began the 5 daily prayers)? It would be
a bit difficult to catch up on 10 years prayers.

Answer:
1a)One can pray sunnah (mustahab) prayers even if he/she has qadha prayers
to be    performed.
b) You have to perform the qadha for the prayers left out from the time you
attained the age of 16 years (i.e. after completion of 15 years).

Question:
2. Also my father never performed the fardh (zahir) but is constantly
engaged in batul & zhikrullah. Does this mean that I being the eldest son am
obliged to perform all the qadha for my father?

Answer:
WHat you call zahir are WAJIB forms of prayers and zhikr (Batin) etc..are
mustahab. Therefore your father has to first perform the obligatory (wajib)
prayers. However, if a person deliberately persists in not performing
praayers wajib upon him, then the eldest son does not have to perform the
qadha for him.
