QUESTION:

I am aware that we are not allowed to throw away paper with the Bismillah
written on it in Arabic. However are we allowed to throw away paper with
the Bismillah written in any other language (i.e. English)?? Also, with
recycling becoming so common and environmentally friendly, are we allowed to
recycle paper which has the Bismillah written on it in Arabic (or any other
language)?

ANSWER:

If the original Arabic text of Bismillah or any Ayat etc.. is written in
transliteration, one is not allowed to throw the paper away. If it is a
translation, there is no objection.
The best way of disposing of such paper is to recycle it.
