QUESTION:

It has recently come to my attention that Colgate toothpaste contains
glycerin. Does this make the use of it haraam? If glycerin in this case is
haraam, can the toothpaste still be used since it is not swallowed or
ingested, but spit out afterwards?


ANSWER:  

I am not aware of the composition of glycerin.  In case if glycerin is najis but 
not swallowed then there would be no objection to its use.  However, it would be 
better to use another brand of toothpaste that is free of glycerin.
