"Love" by John Lennon
Here are some great writings and poetry.
Rainbow Bridge
--Author Unknown
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or
maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and
times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone
very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over
the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous
reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the
beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life
but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
"Temporary One"
--by Fleetwood Mac
Where are you darling
when (my) moon is rising
and your sun is shining down?
What are you doing?
Are you missing me the way I'm missing you now?
The river goes on and on.
The sea that divides us
is a temporary one
and the bridge will bring us back together...
Friend
--by anonymous
Friend...
You have given me courage,
That was not there...
You have given me laughter,
That I can share...
You have given me feelings,
That are deep and true...
For that my friend
I will always love you...
"If You Ever Did Believe"
--by Stevie Nicks
You've left me now and it's seizing my soul.
And with every step you take
I watch another part of you go.
I continue to build the wall.
You were so strong.
I fell to my knees.
And I don't think I can handle this at all.
Well one more night I'd like to lie and hold you,
yes, and feel...
To make you smile I'd like to be there for you.
Have you forgotten me?
And the days go by
doing nothing about them.
How much time
will I have to spend?
My mind won't rest and I don't sleep
not even in my dreams.
If you ever did believe for my sake
If you ever did believe...
And the days go by
doing nothing about them.
How much time
will I have to spend?
And the days go by
doing nothing about them.
How much time
will I have to spend?
Well one more night I'd like to lie and hold you,
yes, and feel...
To make you smile I'd like to be there for you.
Have you forgotten me?
Baby don't leave me...
Baby don't leave me...
Baby don't leave me...
I'm down on my knees.
Baby don't leave me.
I'm begging you to please...
Well don't leave me.
I'm begging you to please...
Baby don't leave me...
Baby don't leave me...
These Arms of Mine
--by Jeff Tweel/Gail Thompson
These arms of mine long to hold you again
Like they did long ago
The winds of time, if left untamed
Can chill the flame and kill its love
But this love in me still is only to feel
The touch of yours in these arms of mine
This love in me still is only to feel
The touch of yours in these arms of mine
The touch of yours in these arms of mine
"The Dance"
--by Garth Brooks
Looking back on the memory of
the dance we shared, beneath the stars above.
For a moment all the world was right.
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye?
And now I'm glad I didn't know
the way it all would end, the way it all would go.
Our lives are better left to chance,
I could have missed the pain,
but I'd have had to miss the dance.
Holding you, I held everything,
for a moment, wasn't I the king?
If I'd only known how the king would fall
then who's to say, you know I might have changed it all.
And now I'm glad I didn't know
the way it all would end, the way it all would go.
Our lives are better left to chance,
I could have missed the pain,
but I'd have had to miss the dance.
It's my life. It's better left to chance.
I could have missed the pain,
but I'd have had to miss the dance.
Tapestry of Sorrow
The Misbegotten Weaver
--by anonymous
For my wounded heart,
I make of my tears a poillow.
To warm my tortured soul,
I weave of my sadness a blanket.
For the pain in my empty arms
that ache from the desire to embrace
the beauty and wonder of you,
I find no soothing balm.
"Love"
--by John Lennon
Love is real
Real is love
Love is feeling
Feeling love
Love is wanting
To be loved
Love is touch
Touch is love
Love is reaching
Reaching love
Love is asking
To be loved
Love is you
You and me
Love is knowing
We can be
Love is free
Free is love
Love is living
Living love
Love is needing
To be loved
For All Who've Lost A HeartDog
--by anonymous
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ... in the
stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.
"Everything I Own"
--by Bread
You sheltered me from harm
kept me warm, kept me warm.
You gave my life to me
set me free, set me free.
The finest years I ever knew
were all the years I had with you.
And I would give anything I own,
give up my life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own
just to have you back again.
You taught me how to love
what it's of, what it's of.
You never said too much,
but still you showed the way
and I knew from watching you.
Nobody else could ever know
the part of me that can't let go.
And I would give anything I own
give up my life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own
just to have you back again.
Is there someone you know,
you're loving them so,
but taking them all for granted.
You may lose them one day.
Someone takes them away
and they don't hear the words you long to say.
I would give anything I own
give up my life, my heart, my home.
I would give everything I own
just to have you back again,
just to touch you once again.

Before I grow too frail and weak,
And all that's left is peace in sleep,
I know you'll do what must be done,
To end this fight that can't be won.
I don't fear death as humans do,
So let me try to comfort you,
Come, let us take a quiet stroll,
And share some quietness soul to soul.
No need for words 'twixt you and I,
No need to say a last good-bye,
We've grown so close in mind and heart,
It seems so cruel that we must part.
Be sure I sense the pain you'll feel,
Without me walking at your heel,
The days will feel full of despair,
Your "Sunshine" simply won't be there.
In time the pain will slowly wane,
You'll think of me and smile again,
You'll speak with love and pride of me,
Your extra special friend.
Now take me where my needs they'll tend,
And stay there with me till the end,
Hold me close with soft good-byes,
'Till life's bright light has left my eyes.
The final sound I need to hear,
Is your soft voice upon my ear.
Your loving face will fade and dim,
As the rush of heaven closes in.
"Landslide"
--by Fleetwood Mac
I took my love and I took it down.
I climbed the mountain and I turned around.
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills.
Well the landslide brought me down.
Oh mirror in the sky what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail thorugh the changing ocean tides.
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Mmm.. mmm.. I don't know. Mmm mmm.. Mmm mmm..
Well I been 'fraid of changing cuz I build my life around you.
But time makes you bolder, children get older, and I'm getting older too.
So.. I been 'fraid of changing cuz I..
I build my life around you.
But time makes you bolder, children get older, I'm getting older too.
I'm getting older too.
So ... take this love and take it down.
Ohh... if you climb the mountain and you turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills,
well the landslide will bring it down.. down.
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills,
well maybe the landslide wil bring it down.
Well, well the landslide will bring it down.

They will not go quietly,
the pets who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still can make us
think we hear them at the door
or step back when we drop a
tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
and, sometimes coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new
friends and a new food dish to fill,
that one place in our hearts belongs to them... and always will.

Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears,
But laugh and talk of me
As if I were here beside you....
I loved you so ---
T'was heaven here with you.
The Ten Commandments (for pets)
--by Isla Paschal Richardson
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be painful for me. Remember that before you get me.
2. Give me time to understand what you want from me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial to my well-being.
4. Don’t be angry with me for long, and don’t lock me up as punishment. You have your work, entertainment, and friends. I have only you.
5. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don’t understand your words, I understand your voice.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I’ll never forget it.
7. Please don’t hit me, I can’t hit back, but I can bite and scratch and I really don’t want to do that.
8. Before you scold me for being so uncooperative, obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right foods, or I’ve been out in the sun too long or my heart is getting old and weak.
9. Take care of me when I get old. You, too, will grow old.
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, “I can’t bear to watch”, or “let it happen in my absence”. Everything is easier for me if you are there.
Remember, I love you.
