Preface

The basis of this book was a public slide and lecture show which enthralled the crowds in the countries where it was presented.  A common request was that it be made available in book form.  The basic material has been available for a long time, but spread through many books in libraries around the world, and not usually available at a normal town library.  The older books referred to are commonly over 100 years old and frequently out of print.  Some have have been on the index of forbidden reading, or have even incurred the death-sentence for mere possession.  These written works truthfully contained the facts of history before certain recorded happenings were 'sanitised' to make them 'politically correct'.  A similar statement could be applied to some papers, documents and statistics pertaining to modern history.  Although available for the genuine investigative enquirer, many are 'blacklisted' for general publication.

The substance of this book is a thumbnail view of history in the Christian era especially from the date of Henry VIII's accession to the English throne in 1509. The consequences of Henry's actions eventually led to the separating of Church and State. The Romish element countered with the inevitable conscience was won for all, including Catholics when in a minority. It appears that a modern man cannot, or will not, learn from history for there is an element of religious bigots gaining power again in strategic places. It appears they are determined to repeat, in the 'name of God', the mistakes of the past.
