Forever Young

The CTY '99 Essay

Life rips things away from you too early. Your innocence, friends, love. It pulls it, wretches it away from you, until all you have left is your belief in yourself, and even that is shaken. But each day is a chance to rebuild, a chance to start over again. To redo what you did wrong, to celebrate what you did right. But life also brings happiness...ecstasy. It makes you happy, elates you, then leaves. Life is a lesson to be learned. Each peak, each grave, has something to learn from. They give us wisdom, make us stronger people, help us to realize who we are and who we want to be. We lose innocences, but gain perspective. We lose friends, and meet more. We lose love, and find it where we least expect it: from simple things that have been here all our lives. We dont realize what we have until we lose it, til it goes. We need to let go, let go or worries, problems, troubling mindsets. We need to be ourselves and be happy with who we are. Only then can we have really lived. Each day is a treasure and is meant to be treasured. Life goes on. We live. We are. Dont let life rip things away from you before their time. Live each day to the fullest, no inhibitions, no worries. Be true to yourself and life will be true to you. Enjoy your youth while you have it.

Be Forever Young.
