If you've perused my
Bimmer page you'll be aware of my first sidecar. Sadly the R100 has gone, but the little Squire lives on and is about to receive it's third incarnation in my hands. First was the R100:
The R-bike was replaced, however short-lived, by an '81 XS650SH:
The 650 was fine until I put my son in the chair....then the lack of power became apparent. However, this wasn't the bikes's undoing. After only 2000km the crank started making terminal noises. This is unusual for an XS, but it spelt the end of it's sidecar career. Fortunately the damage didn't get to the stage of explosive self-destruction, so the bike is now resting as it awaits a new incarnation as a stripped down fun bike.
So where will the sidecar go? Onto the '85 K100RS that was bought for just that purpose:
The K-bike is currently (15-Nov-2000) awaiting a sub-frame/mounting kit, which is being made by Ron Hurdis at HRD sidecars on the outskirts of Sydney.
