Iolanda Therezinha Marcier

A Life Dedicated
To Loving Others

SOROR Iolanda
Therezinha Marcier, F.R.C.,
a member of the Sacred Esoteric Hierarchy from the Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis - A.M.O.R.C., was born on February 4, 1934, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, South America, but her parents were from Portugal. She was baptized on February 10, 1934 as Iolanda Therezinha de Jesus at the Church of "Nossa Senhora da Conceição and São José‚", in Engenho de Dentro , Rio de Janeiro. She started working at a very early age. By the time she was 14, she was a worker at a factory, which made wood boxes for candies. Her free time was dedicated to studying and praying, in which she fostered a special devotion to Holy Mary. Later on, she became a theater actress and began to pose for a sculptor. After that she became a craftswoman. She never allowed her battle to survive in a consumer society to interfere with her moral and ethical principles on which she built her spiritualized personality and dedicated herself to the Love of Christ. She always used to say the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ was the church of poor people and that's why she dedicated herself to assist them although she did not have any possessions. Every month, she addressed part of her small money to help the needy. She explained: "We should pray and work permanently, but this is not enough to give meaning to life: it's necessary to follow the new commandment, which Jesus willed to us: love the others as we love ourselves; and for that, we must proceed with common sense, giving part of what we receive to the ones who have nothing. Just like this, we will deserve God.
Iolanda entered A.M.O.R.C. in 1978 because she was willing to study the laws that govern the universe, because she was interested in astronomy. Eventually, at night, when she had some free time, she used to search the sky with a small telescope, which was a gift from her husband to whom she was married for 28 years. Since the time she entered Rosicruician Order she never stopped her studies, the Sanctum work every Thursday night and the Medifocus, every first Sunday of the month, in spite of the amount of housework and handicraft work she had to do. She used to pray everyday for humanity, to help the poor, and contribute towards charitable associations that assisted the sick. As a very devoted catholic, she respected all religions with good intentions. She used to listen carefully to all the problems of the ones who looked for her advice. She spoke little which showed that she had an inexhaustible patience and an immeasurable tolerance. She worked the whole day, from early in the morning until late in the night. She was always smiling and her eyes radiated an intense happiness, even in the most difficult situations. She reached illumination in 1990, because of charity and modesty, in which she tried to be as good as possible. In 1994, she had reached such a high level of holiness that feral animals approached her. Birds and other animals complied with her request and ate from her hand. She was not concerned at all about the things that happened in the material world. She began to live not for herself but for other people, and she did not want to possess anything else.

Through the experiments prescribed by Rosacrucian' studies, Soror Iolanda developed hidden healing powers. She healed wounds and internal diseases just by laying her hands on the patient. Her prayers for these occasions were really simple: One Pater Noster and one Ave Maria. One day, in Fonseca, a district in Niteroii, a city in Rio de Janeiro State, a crying person approached her with a puppy that had just died. She set her right hand on the little animal and said: "Get up and walk, innocent little animal, in the name of Jesus Christ and for the Glory of Dear God and in the Union of the Holy Spirit." At that moment the little animal came back to life and the ones who witnessed the scene fell on their knees saying: "Thanks be to God".

Another day, in São Paulo State, her husband was not getting paid by the company he worked for. They did not have any money for food. The only change they had was spent on a piece of meat, which she roasted and left in a pan. When, to his wife, the husband revealed the fear of not having anything to eat, she said: "The Lord is our Shepherd and there's nothing I shall want". After pronouncing those words she made the sign of the cross towards the pan. It did not matter how much they ate from that meat, it did not finish until the husband got paid and they could shop.

The miracles made by the beatified woman were numerous. They were all made by the name of Jesus Christ, who conferred on her a huge power, that she could even cast out the devil by just making the sign of the cross. However, she always denied to demonstrate such powers, reserving them for occasions when they would be really necessary, to serve others.

Besides healing sick men and ill animals, Iolanda brought back to life dry plants and trees innumerous times, by just making the sign of the cross towards them. This whole power also reflected on her. During her entire life, until she was 60, she had never been in bed for any illness. She was never tired; even though she used to sleep only 5 hours per night. Iolanda, the beatified woman, devoted 19 hours each day to work, to prayers that praised God, and to the ones who were suffering. She used to say we should not pray for ourselves, asking God for something for us, because "God knows what we deserve and He provides everything." She affirmed that the lie, the slander and the vanity were the main signs of the devil, but she added: "If the enunciation of the truth hurts someone, it should not be said, since what most offends God is to make someone suffer."

In July 1994, she announced she would make a transition and in September she became very ill. Her torment was terrible, since she had dreadful pain all over her body. She was interned in a hospital three times. Due to the terrible conditions of the hospitals, she was not fed for 15 days in a hospital in Rio de Janeiro, where by negligence, one of her vertebra was broken on the operation table, when she was having her brain operated upon. She was treated with brutality and disregard by people with no feelings that laughed at their patients’ pain. They were just concerned about the money they could get from those people's relatives. Like the other patients, she was left for many hours without any medicine that could ease the pain. Instead of complaining or becoming revolted, she blessed permanently the ones who treated her badly and prayed for them, saying they were good and that she loved them.

Soon, patients with incurable diseases, and who could barely walk, visited her room. They were looking for her blessings. She blessed everyone in the name of Christ and declared words of comfort and hope, among moaning of pain; She always had an expression of joy and tenderness in her eyes. Many had their suffering eased by the power of her prayers. Nurses God-fearing began to come to her room from different floors of the hospital. Every day, poor people and religious people from numerous churches who knew about her holiness began to go to her room in the hospitals she had been. They made lines by the door when she stayed there. In the last one, on her 61st birthday, she received the extreme unctiond by an Evangelist Pastor and the last rites by a Catholic Priest from her parish. The Priest cried when with a debile voice she prayed the Catholic Credo (Professio Fidei) together with him.

Her Rosacrucian brothers constantly visited her in the hospital and when she was at home, where she was always assisted by her neighbors, who comforted her and brought food prepared with love, especially for her. One of her neighbors, a pediatrician, assisted her and provided her second hospitalization, spending most of his working time, and he refused to receive any kind of payment. Before becoming completely incapable of writing, she wrote a message based on 19 words, in which she expressed her wish to humanity:

LOVE + WISDOM + KINDNESS + CHARITY + LIGHT + JOY + HARMONY + HAPPINESS + HEALTH + COMPREHENSION + RESPECT + HONESTY + PEACE + BALANCE + REGENERATION + SIMPLICITY + RELIGIOSITY + MODESTY + PURITY

(Soror Iolanda also left commandments with 47 principles for the people who are member of the Sacred Esoteric Hierarchy, and an Exposition about modesty. Also, she left 3 poems for the Rosacrucian people.)

Before making the transition, she reaffirmed her Christian vows and asserted to believe that the Saint Mother - Roman Apostolic Catholic Church is the faithful repository of the Christian doctrine. When she could still say some words, she prayed incessantly for humanity and for the animals. She asked her brothers from the community to keep praying after she left her body. They should pray every day, when they woke up and before they went to bed. When she could not even speak, in the name of Jesus Christ, she still blessed everyone that approached her. She just raised her right hand, which was the only part of her body that she could still move. She was assisted during her last moments by the Invisible Masters from the Great White Fraternity, who comforted and took her to the Cosmic Level on the night of February 26, 1995. This way, they set her free from the suffering of the flesh, which she expressed gratitude for, with these words: "Thank you, Jesus, thank you for this suffering that makes me grow!"

Soror Iolanda had her Big Initiation in a perfect state of consciousness, knowing and understanding everything that was going on. She went through the doors of eternity affirming:

- There is no death. It's only a brief split.

After the Rosacrucia Funeral Ceremony of Detaching, celebrated by the Officials from R+C Lodge of A.M.O.R.C. in Niteroi, of which she was a member since 1978, her body was buried in Sao Francisco cemetery. Catholics, Evangelics and Rosacrucians accompanied it. On her tombstone there is a ankh (egypcian) cross, a symbol of eternal life.
