  1. take one's medicine      吃藥

    2. 喻指：罪有應得；活該；自食其果。引申有自作自受，因而必須忍受不愉快的事或做不喜歡的事。

    【例句】：

    Though she does not like to marry that jerk, she has to take her medicine.

    雖然她不想嫁給那笨蛋，但是她仍一定要這麼做。
  2. take pains       努力；費力

    3. 引申有很小心、很審慎之意。

    【例句】：

    You should take more pains with your work.

    你應該對你的工作更加努力。
  3. take the cake       取餅

    4. 喻指：贏得獎賞、勝過別人。源出黑人圍餅跳舞，優勝者賞以大餅一個。現在多被用來表示驚奇，不相信等等。含有譏諷意味，諷喻愚蠢、荒謬或強暴的行為。

    就魯莽而論，那女人真是頂瓜瓜。

    5. 指的是 Reading, wRiting, aRithmetic。即『讀、寫、算』。

    【例句】：

    The three R's are the necessary fundamental subjects of primary education.

    『讀、寫、算』是初等教育必要的基礎科目。

  5. throw in the towel       扔進毛巾

    6. 喻指：放棄；認輸；投降。

    【例句】：

    Try not to throw in the towel, you can do it.

    別放棄，你做得到的。
