inquiries and lodgement of papers
To submit a paper for publication, or presentation at the Lodge, send a copy
of your paper to the Editors, so that an assessment can be made regarding
its eligibility. This process occurs under the following rules:
The paper to be submitted within Editorial Policy.
The paper's content is confidential until delivered by yourself in the Lodge or, if for publication only, until published in the Lodge Transactions.
The only judgement(s) made is: "Is it masonic or masonically orientated, and does it offer something new?"
The paper's point(s) of view, concepts and/or discussions are not judged by either Editors other than that which fits within paragraph 5 below.
A paper falls within one of the following categories:
a. It has something to offer, is deliverable, and is
publishable.
b. It has something to offer but is considered not long enough to
provide for adequate discussion, but is definitely worth publishing.
c. It has a good basis but needs more work. The paper is returned
and reason(s) are given.
d. Sorry, it is not good enough. The paper is returned
and reason(s) are given.
Discussion with the Editors by prospective authors is most welcome and encouraged.
Papers are to be submitted by
e-mail attachement or in writing to W Bro Graeme
Love,
P O Box 2380, RINGWOOD NORTH, VIC, 3134,
AUSTRALIA
All papers must be submitted in the English language. The text must be submitted
in one of the following formats, unless prior arrangement with the Editors
has been obtained:
Authors MUST submit clear sketches and photographs. Any which are not clear may not be included. If unsure submit them direct to W Bro Graeme Love for appraisal.
Please assist us towards uniformity of convention:
A paper to be published must contain a bibliography and/or references. It is preferred that a paper not exceed 10 (ten) pages. The paper must be an original work of the author and should present either a new idea, argument or discovery, which constitutes a material statement concerning an aspect of the Craft (preferably) or of the history of some element of the Institution.
Receipt of papers will be acknowledged and originals (diskette or paper) will be returned to their author.
Authors should indicate their preference when submitting a paper, e.g.: to be delivered personally; to be read by someone other than the author; or for publication ONLY, NOT delivery.
Papers MUST reach one of the Editors by final mail at the end of September for publication in March of the following year.
No previous permission is required for any material published in any volume of Lodge Transactions to be read at any regularly constituted/authorised masonic meeting, for the process of encouraging interest in Freemasonry, but credit should be given to the source and the specific author.
Masonic students, writers and publication are invited to reproduce any article, provided the source is indicated and the Victorian Lodge of Research is provided with a courtesy copy of the reprinted materials and at least one of the Editors being informed.
Prior permission must be obtained from the Editors for use of all, or part thereof, of any material from any volume of the Lodge Transactions by any non-masonic source.
