Some history about myself …
I’m originally from Cape Town, South Africa. I was born in May 1970 into a normal (if you can call us that) family. I have 2 brothers and a sister. My father passed away a few years ago and my mother is still alive and well.

I attended Mountain Road Primary School in Woodstock (not the best of suburbs!) until my high school education started. I began high school at Rhodes High School in Mowbray. After my first term in high school my father decided it was time to move to the (then) Eastern Transvaal, (now) Mpumalanga. We moved to Nelspruit in 1983 where I attended Lowveld High School until completing matric in 1987.

After matric my National Service began. I was called up in February 1988 to join the South African Air Force. It was a long 2 years, but I have some fond memories and definitely some bad ones. My basics took place at the Air Force Gymnasium near Pretoria. I was then sent to the SAAF Regiment training camp in Hoedspruit where I was trained in security as a dog handler. After this phase I was placed at Hoedspruit Air Force Base, but was soon back at the Regiment training camp to do a Guard Commander’s course. After successfully completing the course I went back to Hoedspruit Air Force Base as a Lance-Corporal. A few months later I received my next stripe making me a Corporal. I stayed on that rank until my National Service ended in December 1989.

After my National Service I was still not sure what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, so to waste some time while I made up my mind I enrolled at a computer training school to do a computer programming course. Well, that was that, after completing the course and battling to find employment in Johannesburg I went back to Nelspruit where I eventually found my first job in November 1990.

Other information about me …
I completed my Bachelor of Science degree through the University of South Africa (UNISA) at the end of 2003.  I received the degree at a ceremony held at UNISA in Pretoria in May 2004.   Initially did a Diploma in Datametrics through UNISA and then enrolled for the B.Sc. in 1997.  Subjects included; Computer Programming, Computer Theory, Project Management, Applied Maths, Business Management, Logic, Computer Networks, Database Design, Systems Analysis and Design.  Feel like I'm getting too old to study now, but I am actively involved in Toastmasters International.
