Position: Software Engineer
Period: 02/11/1995 - 30/06/1998
Job Function:
I was employed as a Software Engineer responsible for
installation and support of Netview Distribution Manager (an IBM software/data
distribution system) running under MVS/ESA DB2 (mainframe) and OS/2 DB2/2 (pc).
Most of my day-to-day activities involved writing small systems for the
automation of various functions within the Bank.
Languages used were mainly
C/C++, REXX and Assembler/370. The platforms are OS/2, Windows NT and MVS/ESA.
I was involved in setting up a Microsoft Systems Management Network which is
being rolled-out to approximately 10,000 workstations.
It is a client server environment, where automation of tasks is strongly
emphasized. This includes Software Distribution, Remote Control, Scheduling,
etc.
Within these environments OS/2, Windows NT and Windows 95 are being used. I
was also involved in the evaluation and the making of proposals as to which
Systems Management Software should be used within the enterprise.

Previous Employer (6)
Position: Systems Programmer
Period: 15/11/1990 - 31/10/1995
Job Function:
I was initially employed as a Junior Systems
Programmer to support the mainframe VM/HPO system and related software. I
underwent a 2 year training phase where I learnt Systems Programming, VTAM,
Assembler and various other skills. I was then promoted to Systems Programmer.
My responsibilites then included installations of all related mainframe
software.
I wrote various utilities and small systems to assist various departments in
their day-to-day functions. This included printing systems, enhancing payroll
systems and a help-desk system.
Late 1994 the company made the decision to go client server. During the next
few months I was trained in all Windows flavours (including NT), TCP/IP, ORACLE
and SAP/R3.
My responsibilities then included network installation and support, while
still supporting the mainframe systems. The SAP/R3 basis system software running
under Windows NT and the Oracle database were then also my responsibility.
I was involved in this re-engineering process for approximately one year.
