Footnotes for the Expanded Operational Possibilities Chart

These are the footnotes to my expanded operational possibilities chart for Empires in Arms. My web page also provides access to further Empires in Arms material.
(A) Roll one die. For the entire battle, use the upper numbers on a roll of 1-3, and the lower numbers on a roll of 4-6.
(B) Outflank arrives if die roll is less than or equal to the strategic rating. -1 to SR for forest, mountain or marsh. +22 to SR for after the second round.
(C) Attacker must separate into pinning and outflanking forces. Use left hand numbers until outflank arrives and right hand numbers thereafter.
(D) Defender must separate into pinning and outflanking forces. Use upper numbers until outflank arrives and lower numbers thereafter.
(E) Do not separate into pinning and outflanking forces.
(F) +1 morale if commander is Turkish, whether attacker or defender.
(G) Withdrawal is successful if die roll is less than or equal to the strategic rating. +1 to SR if the defender is all cavalry and the attacker is not.
(H) +1 to defender SR. If withdrawal roll fails then fight one round using left hand numbers: if outflank arrives at end of first round then fight remainder using right hand numbers, otherwise battle ends with successful withdrawal.
(I) +1 to defender's die rolls if commander is Austrian.
(J) -1 to defender's SR.
(K) +1 to defender's SR.
(L) Defender automatically withdraws.
(M) +2 to defender SR. Battle ends after first round if outflank doesn't arrive.
(N) -1 to attacker's SR.
(O) Tactical ratings are ignored.
(P) +1 morale for defender if commander is Russian.
(Q) +1 to attacker's SR.
(R) If neither side breaks or withdraws overnight, the next day is fought with no further reductions to morale.
(S) +1 to defender's strategic rating.
(T) -1 to defender's strategic rating.
(U) Use lower numbers if the attack is coming across a river, upper numbers otherwise.

Terrain Effects on Combat

Forest: -1 to casualty level, both sides.
Mountain: -1 to casualties inflicted by the attackerr.
Desert: +1 to morale level, both sides. If half or more of the corps on a side are from countries that can be included in the Ottoman Empire, then this advantage does not accrue to the other side.
Marsh: -1 to casualty level for both sides, +1 too morale level, both sides.
