The team is vacationing in Hawaii when they are attacked by Kid Doomsday!
After a long and grueling battle, Impulse has tapped out all of his energy and can no longer draw power from the speedforce, and Arrowette is hospitalized, near death. With all the rest of YJ beaten, Superboy battles Kid Doomsday alone, until both level eachother with a crushing blow that in turn kills each.
This would be great, because we'd have to follow it with a Reign of the Superboys series, where four new Superboys rise up to take his place (meanwhile, Young Justice is picking up the pieces, trying to move on, adding really cool heroes like Anima, Ray, the Wonder Twins and Lagoon Boy to account for the loss of Impulse, Superboy and Arrowette. Wondergirl becomes team leader)
Our new Superboys:
The Pontificator: A seeming exact replica of Kon-El, who can't seem to shut up about how cool his tactile-telekinesis is. The catch, he's older than our Kon and has more powers.
Leatherette: After breaking in to Kon's tomb, for one last good-bye, Roxy Leech discovers his body missing. The grave robbers have left behind (accidentally?) Superboy's Legion Flight Ring. Taking the ring, she designs a leather bad grrl costume and becomes the flying girl wonder.
The Kid of Steel: he's faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. He's the Kid of Steel. Imbued with superhuman powers of strength, flight, invulnerability, etc. and coming from seemingly nowhere. Not of this earth, but with a seeming connection to the fallen Superboy, he takes the Kid's identity and begins to fight the good fight.
The Android Superboy: Yet another new Superboy arrives on the scene, displaying all of Kon's powers, personality quirks and weaknesses, but there is a slight tinge of disattachment to him. After breaking into the lab holding Kid Doomsday's corpse and launching the corpse into space, it is revealed that he is in fact an android creation.

Soon, Impulse is finding himself able to tap into the speedforce again, he always could but the trauma from the battle and Superboy's death caused him to repress it.
While the JLA is dealing with the fun Mageddon cross-over event, the Pontificator and Leatherette travel to Manchester to curb a supposed Kobra threat. Upon arrival, it is revealed that Pontificator is in fact Match working with Kalibak he nukes Manchester and all the surrounding cities, forcing Leatherette to watch as he prepares to torture her.
In response to the Manchester attack, Pontificator calls in the other two Superboys for help, they rush to aid the Pontificator and Impulse tags along to help avenge Manchester.
Soon, Pontificator's evil plot is revealed, to use fault-lines and volcanic hotspots all across the country to sink the continent. After a grueling battle, Leatherette, Kid of Steel and Android Superboy, with Impulse's help, defeat Match and Kalibak, saving the North American Continent. During the battle, Kid of Steel is revealed as the Pocket Universe/hypertime Superboy, here to honor his fallen friend and protect his world, the Android is revealed as a construct by Brainiac 5 sent to our era to honor his team mate and protect his world. The whole ordeal leaves Impulse somewhat disturbed and distant.

Later, strange events begin occuring, people are popping in and out of existence. During this "Infinity Hour" event all the heroes, and many villains band together to stop this threat to their existence as things and people continue to blink in and out of existence, while all of the speed heroes are nowhere to be found. Soon, the heroes are joined by another: Superboy, yes Kon-El, who never died, but has spent the last months shacked up with Knockout unaware of the events following his battle with Doomsday.
Together with Superboy, the heroes learn that the villain behind Infinity Hour is in fact Impulse, who, insane, murdered all other users of the speed force and has since been using his infinite speed powers to weave together the hyperverse, causing all of the realities of hypertime to merge into one. As the hyperverses merge, the world begins to reset and Barry Allen is saved from Crisis so Impulse can be with his grandpa.
Barry Allen, being the brilliant, wonderful, intelligent, smart, all-around bright guy he is, does the ultimate sacrifice and gets a vasectomy. Unable to father children, he destroys Impulse's existence and saves the universe.
After the speed force energy returns to a whole slough of new heroes, and those killed by Bart who returned to life as the hyperverses merged, Young Justice finally reforms, with G'Nort replacing Impulse.
