The Poetry of Reader21

Previous Poets of the Month
Lip Service

Lies
are easily perpetrated from pouty lips, perfectly poised to poison
any and all thoughts I may have of self worth.
You
tell me how I help, ease pain, create happiness, advance your life,
and yet your actions seem to get more depressed.
I
have tried many times to tell you that actions shout while words whisper,
and yet you carry on, unwittingly two-faced.
I
have spoken many times of removing you from that place in my life,
erasing 3 years of friendship, on those days when this occurs.
You
however, don't realize that I'm speaking of you, for I fear hurting
your feelings and dowsing your depressed fire with more fuel.
Lies
are what I speak to ease the pain of one who hurts me,
so I suppose, in the end, I am not really any better.
