The Roman Catholic Church Asserts:
That faith alone does not suffice for salvation.
Catholic Church " To participate in the merits of Jesus and in the fruits of the Redemption, faith in Jesus is necessary: "He that believeth not shall be condemned." Yet this faith by itself and alone cannot and does not suffice; it must, to be effective, be accompanied by sorrow for sin together with charity and good works." Reference 15
Scriptures And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. ~Romans 11:6

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: ~Philippians 3:9

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;... That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. ~Titus 3:5,7

For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God lest any man should boast. ~Ephesians 2:8-9

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. ~Galatians 2:16-17

Comments Faith by itself and alone can and does suffice; sorrow for sin together with charity and good works do not need to accompany faith for it to be effective.
