Catholic Church | "What the english bishops of the synod of Oxford denounced was not the translation of the Bible into the vernacular, but translations undertaken by purely private authority without the approval of the Church. This was a policy that derives from the very origins of the Church and that remains unchanged today. The Catholic Church did then and does now regard the Bible as her own business. She considers herself to stand in relation to the Bible somewhat in the manner of a modern publisher with regard to a book of which he holds the copyright....The excommunication which she attached to the dissemination of Wycliffe's Bible was her way of asserting her "copyright."" Scriptures | In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. ~John 1:1-2 |
Comments | There is no proof that the Catholic church has this authority of publisher of the scriptures. In fact Moses, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Daniel, Peter, Paul, James, John and all the
writers of the Bible were Jews. The apostles formed the church and may have penned the scriptures of the new testament, but God takes the credit and authorship. Holy revelation does not come from
flesh and blood.
God and the Word are one. A church can not assume to own and manage God. |
