The picture was taken in the late spring of 1952 from the living room of our house on Rockwell Ave. in Catonsville. The house we lived in is still there, as is the open field behind my sister and me, but the tree by my brother was cut down some time after the family moved to Howard County in 1963. Our family, which came to be known as the McCahan Clan, was one of the first to move into a new housing development known as Arlonne. As you can see the developement was so new that the sidewalks hadn't been built yet.
Rockwell Ave. has changed a lot since then. Many of the wooded areas that I explored as a boy are now developed. Despite all the new homes that have been built, its still a great place to live and close to a lot of history.
