If you are a beginner or if you are having problems tracing a particular ancestor. Then an initial and Index search might satisfy your needs.
Emerald Ancestry's Initial and Index search of anyone you require, will consist of finding said ancestor via church records or other records that are available to us.
We will record his or her date and place or county of birth. We will also transcribe anyone with the same surname and from the same area as your ancestor. We will also list his/her father's name and mothers name including her maiden name (thus enabling you to discover a previous generation), as well as any brothers or sisters that the ancestor in question might have. Christening details may also include Godparents. To complete a successful search you will have to fill in the initial and index form completing at least 90% of the questionnaire and knowing the correct town or parish they came from/
The more information we receive from you about your ancestor, the more we will be able to discover about them.
Once we locate your ancestor, we will then be able to advise you on other records or registers that are available and can be used to discover as much information about him or her. We will be able to tell what census records and civil registers are available on your ancestor's family.
The only counties we are able to do at this present time are the following:
Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Donegal, Down, Fermanagh, Louth, Monaghan and Tyrone.
If the county you require does not appear on this list then please do not send by post any payments to us. But email us instead and we will advise you on how to get help from another source.
