An
Introduction:
Of all the
philosophies and the religious traditions of the world,
none are more unique and deserve a study to inquire their
parallels, the Skandinavian myths, myths they are labelled
for some want to indoctrinate us that those were lies,
and Bharat's Vedic traditions, are both wonders of human
thought which must find wider recognition from one who
is agnostic or even the devout christian. And quite unsurprisingly
for those who know both, their origin is common.
Now, when
one reads about the deities of a people in another part
of the world, it is very natural that one faces upto the
trust and reverence, which the worshippers of those deities
bestow upon their gods. Traditions and lores of many a
forefathers inquired of, thus the truthful honesty within.
For what a people have been steadfastly observing as their
traditions, it is even more imperative that one must possess
an intense reverence and devotion to those traditons in
the line of the gods most honoured, revered and endeared.
The conscious spirit acts here, albeit the bifaceted,
evolving mind, what one is learning about and all that
one has learnt in an upbringing in a different setting.
Being a Vedic
Brahman, it is possibly natural that I, for one, can look
at those gods and traditions of the great people of the
north as my own. But it may not entirely be so simple
and direct in terms of occurence, since by the uniqueness
of my own experiences & exposures and convictions
as well, I am more of a Vedic than a Norseman, or as I
have grown by virtue of the more closer experiences in
my short lifespan.
Besides,
the quantum of known alikeness between the two isn't properly
respected as it deserves to be.
The latter
is for the wanton neglect of the powers that be and in
many cases, the intentional disregard which it is treated
with. Then it, indeed, suffers the ignominy that is associated
with it since in some, it has become a diatribical characteristic
to undermine or vilify any attempted inquiries to learn
the essence, owing largely to the events of modern history
where impetuousity reigned supreme and much the way it
happened with the Kuru clan, healthy protagonism was the
loser, it never even got heard in the cauldron which ensued
from the events in the early half of the last century.
Our cynicism
must not act in the way to realise something which is
as beautiful as are the thoughts of our forefathers, about
existence, and that which matters since it is still preserved
in our blood. Their message and its implied meaning finds
relevance even in these times when consumerism, powered
by the blind surge of the commercial technology, threatens
the very essence that remains of the mankind's greatest
and the noblest values. It is, therefore, my sincere belief
that the cyclical ways of being, which are incidentally
the high points of both, Vedic and Skandinavian pantheons,
will allow for free movement of the spirit of the humans
which has suffered and yet continues to transpire as a
thriving yoke in places now and then.
By its very
essential nature, human spirit is not a slave to the dogma
or the ideology which common creedal deceptions try to
enslave people into. That attests to the great hope that
we can have in effect to realise our beings, as it existed
in the perfect cosmic harmony(with Rta) in the thoughts
of our forefathers. The spirit cannot be stifled since
it has to deliberate with the being to inquire into the
truth.
