Around this time, the local grocery store had a display of old time radio shows on cassettes for sale near the check out line. I began buying shows like "The Shadow", "The Jack Benny Show", "Suspense", "Charlie McCarthy". Then it happened- I ran across one called "The Bing Crosby Show". At that time, in 1982, I'd never heard of him. I bought the tape out of curiosity, and became a fan right then and there. The show was Philco Radio Time of 11/27/46 with Judy Garland.
From there on, my collection has continued to grow, as does my admiration for his talents and the enjoyment I derive from listening to and watching him perform. I wrote my first article for BINGANG in 1989, and have written for just about every one since. I've met some wonderful people because of my interest in Bing, and I'm grateful for the friendships I've aquired. I've been busy as of late doing radio shows featuring Bing on the local station here in West Bend, and am always more than happy to share Bing with my community.
Being a fan and collector of Bing has certainly enriched my life, and brought me many a happy hour marvelling at his versatility as a performer. I'm looking forward to many more years, and many more friendships with fellow Crosby fans.
