Frequently Asked Questions

This is a list of questions I've been asked about this web page. And hopefully the answers I provide will help make using this site easier and more enjoyable. If your question isn't answered here, Email me, and I'll do my best to get an answer posted here as soon as I can.

Why can't I get into the message area?

In order to get into the message area, you must have a GROUP PASSWORD. I should have already sent you the GP, but if you didn't recieve it, send me email requesting the GP, and I'll get it out to you ASAP. Once you have the password, you'll need to click on the "Message" button which appears on the bottom of most of these Web Pages. That will take you to a "PUBLIC" web page with four (4) links on the page. The links are: Chat Area, Message Area, Member Web Page, and Back to Crafty Granny's Home Front. When you select any of these, you will be brought to a LOGIN page. The first time you Login, you will need to fill out and submit a membership request. Providing your Email Address, User Name (You can pick any name you want), a Password of your choice (to use as your login on subsequent visits), and the Group Password which I sent you.

Most of the recipes I try to view give me an error "File not found on server".

The reason for that is....well, either I haven't typed up the recipes yet, or they're typed up, but I haven't converted them to HTML format. The recipes which ARE online should all have a multi-colored sphere in front of their name on the Table of Contents page. If you find that some of these don't work right, be sure to let me know.

I noticed on some of the Family History pages things like "He was born on Month Day, 19xx in City, Louisiana." Is there something wrong with the program?

No, nothing wrong with the program, just the programer. I left the words (Month Day, City etc) there because it's information I need to gather and insert. And I figured if everyone saw it like that, they would send me the information if they knew it.

I'd like to send you some information on myself and other family members, but I don't know how to write in HTML. What do I need to do?

No problem. All you have to do, is send me the information in an email message, and I'll convert it to HTML.

I have additional information on (so and so), if I send it to you, can you add it to what is already on there?

I sure can, and I want to get as much information as I can on everyone in the family. So please send me any and everything you can.

I've lost (so and so's) email address. Is there a way you could have a list of family members, and there addresses on here somewhere?

I could do that, and I've given it some thought. I wouldn't want the addresses to be visible to just anyone, so if I do make a page like that, I would have to password protect it. Which wouldn't be too difficult on this server.

I got your email message saying the Family Area had been updated. I like to know when things change, but I don't always have time to check the Site. Thanks.

You're welcome. I am going to try to send out an email message each time I do any Major updates on the Web Pages. I also try to put a date under the appropate button on the Home Front page so you'll know when each section was last updated.

 I've seen "Banner Ads" on the tops of your pages. Are you selling advertisment?

Actually, I have nothing to do with the advertisment on the "Tops" of these pages. This Web Space is provided FREE by GeoCities.com with the understanding that they can run any advertising they see fit on the Top of the pages to offset the cost of providing this service.
