The police finally came and did their routine. They sent the three of them home
to rest. AJ called his mother and told her they weren't going to make it and
he'll explain later. AJ finally got Janis to fall asleep in his arms. Quietly,
he slipped out and went to check on Brian. Brian was outside, standing by the
pool. AJ made his way to him.

"Hey." AJ said
"Hey…how's Janis" Brian asked
"She's sleeping…you ok?"
"Yah, I'm fine." Brian paused. "You know…you save my life." His voice cracked
trying to hold his crying in.

AJ remained silent for a second, "When that gun went off I … and then you
didn't answer me when I called you… I thou… I thought I didn't pull you back in
time."

AJ and Brian looked at each other and saw tears in each other's eyes. They
leaned in and hugged, which made them cry even more.

"But I'm still here…and I have you to thank for it." Brian said

They stood there crying in each other's arms for a couple minutes.

"You know I love you man!" Brian joked. They both started laughing as they
pulled apart
"Yah, I love you too dude." AJ said, taking his tears and wiping it on Brian's
shirt. Brian looked at the wet spot, then back to AJ.
"Need somethin' for your snot too?" Brian said sarcastically.

Their laughter was broken when they heard the front door open. AJ sighed. "Time
to explain."

"Where's Janis?" Kevin asked looking down the hall.
"She's in my room sleeping." AJ said
"What's going on?" Nick asked
Brian and AJ looked at each other before Brian began. "Someone came into my
mom's house…and…"Brian paused, and AJ continued "And, he was going to kill
Brian…and he was gonna kill Janis too." AJ said
"He was going to kill you?" Nick asked again looking at Brian
"Yah…he had a gun pointed at me." Brian answered
"You guys are ok though right?" Howie asked concerned
"Yah, we're fine" Brian said
"There's one problem though…" AJ said "The chances of Shaun coming back are very
high"
"Shawn?!?" Kevin said "You knew the guy who did this to Janis and Brian?" Kevin
yelled while pointing at Brian and down the hall to Janis.
"Yes I did." AJ said "That's another thing I need to tell you. He was a friend
of mine… and we used to have a band together with 2 other guys. He was always
talking about making it big… and then the two other members left, so it was just
him and me…he still kept talking about getting famous and making a career, but
it never happened, The next think I know, I was being called for the Backstreet
Boys… and now he's saying he wants what I took from him."
"So all of this, could be out of jealousy?" Kevin asked.
AJ nodded. Kevin looked down the hall, then back at AJ. "I'm gonna check on
Janis." He said. AJ watched him walk down the hallway and disappear into the
room.
"So, what's gonna happen now?" Nick asked taking a seat next to Brian.
"I don't know" AJ said "We just have to watch ourselves…and Janis"
The other's agreed…

(IN THE ROOM)
Kevin quietly opened the door, not to wake Janis up. But there was no need for
that. Janis sat on the bed holding her knees and staring out the window. She
didn't even hear the door open. Kevin called her name to brake the silence. The
sound of his voice startled her, but she quickly pulled together.

"You're home." She said quietly. She got off the bed and walked over to Kevin,
her body still shaking. She began to cry as Kevin put his arms around her. She
was happy to have him home and she felt better in his arms.

The only thing Kevin could do was hold her. He was unsure of what to say. There
was so much going through his head and he didn't know where to start. He had to
talk to her, but he knew it wasn't the time.
