~*~ Chapter 17 ~*~

Time flew by faster every second they waited. There was till no sign of Shawn
and how Janis was doing. AJ was losing his patience, but trying hard to stay
calm.

Kevin was leaning over the counter watching AJ pace the floor.

"It's been a whole day… 24 hours… why hasn't he called?!?!?" AJ said, still
pacing.
"AJ, will you please sit down and relax?!?!?" Kevin said
"You would be the same way if your…" He stopped and sighed. "I'm sorry…I'm
sorry." He said finally taking a seat.

No one said anything after that, and they just waited. The silence was broken
when the phone rang. AJ shot up from the chair and rushed to the phone. He
waited for the "ok" from the officer, then answered.

"Hello?" He said lowly
"Hey, how you doin'?" The voice said

AJ looked at the officer to assure her if was Shawn

"Where is she?" AJ said
"Who…oh, your girlfriend… what was her name again??? Janis, that's it…. she's
dead."
"FUCK YOU!!! SHE'S NOT DEAD YOU FUCKIN' BASTARD!!!" AJ yelled

The tone of his voice changed as his eyes began to fill with tears. The other
four were startled by AJ's words. Kevin suddenly found it hard to breathe. Brian
rested his hand on Kevin's arm.

"No, she's not." Shawn said giggling.
"What do you want her for?!?! I'm the one you hate… She has nothing to do with
this!!!" AJ yelled again
"I want you to suffer AJ, that's what I want!!" Shawn snapped. "You took
something that meant a lot tome, and now I'm returning the favor!"
"If you hurt her, I will fuckin' kill you!"
"Naw…. She won't hurt… in fact…. She won't feel any pain at all." Shawn laughed.
"Good bye ass-hole"

Shawn hung up before AJ could say anything else.

"Shit, he's on a cell phone!!" The officer said.

AJ threw the phone on the counter and started to breathe heavily.

"Shit… he's gonna kill her." AJ gasped. Nick ran to AJ as he crumbled into his
arms. "He's gonna kill her… He's gonna kill Janis." He repeated, crying into
Nick's shoulder.

Kevin began to breathe heavily as well, with tears forming. Brian went to his
side to comfort him.

"Can't you do something?" Howie asked the officers
"We have every man possible out there. There's nothing else we can do." She said

(BACK TO JANIS ~ AN HOUR LATER)

Janis laid on the floor curled up, hungry and cold. Her eyes were tired from
crying, but she didn't want to sleep.

She quickly got up when she heard footsteps coming. The key slipped into the
lock as she walked up to the door. As soon as the doorknob turned, she grabbed
the other end and flew it open. Shawn stood there, shocked from the action.
Janis slammed into him with all her body weight causing him to hit the wall and
fall to the floor.

She ran to the living room, trying to find the door. Shawn grabbed her feet and
knocked her to the ground. He got closer and punched her face, making her lip
bleed. Janis ignored the pain for that moment and grabbed his hair. With one
hard pull, she freed herself from his heavy body. She got up only a second
before he did, and tried to run. He grabbed her neck and slammed her against the
shelves, beginning to choke her. Janis reached behind her to find something
solid. Her fingers stumbled across something small, but she had to use it
anyway. She swung it forward and slammed it on the side of his face, cutting his
eye. As the object fell to the floor, she noticed it was just a little ashtray.

"Shit!" she said as she ran for the patio door.

Shawn shook his head and quickly caught up to her. He ran into her, making them
both fall through the sliding glass door. Janis screamed feeling the glass
shatter and cut her skin then landing on the ground. Shawn climbed on top of her
and, once again, punched her face. The hit was so powerful that it left Janis
weak. Shawn picked her up and led her to the car. He stuffed her in the trunk
and got the keys. Janis pounded on the trunk as he drove down the road.

The little house wasn't far from the main road. It was surrounded by woods and
it was next to a small town. Shawn pulled over at the edge of the woods. He
opened the trunk and dragged Janis out. As soon as she stood, he held a knife up
to her and started to walk. Janis had trouble finding her breath as memories
flooded her mind. Shawn led her for some way. Far enough to where she could
barely see the car.

She took a quick look around, wondering what he was going to do next. Suddenly
she screamed at the top of her lungs as Shawn plunged the knife into her
stomach. He spun her around and stabbed again, then again, until she fell to the
ground. She gasped for air while holding her stomach. Shawn grabbed her hair and
lifted her head.

"Don't worry, you'll be dead by the time they find you." He growled.

He then let her head go and walked away. Janis laid there crying in pain, it
was almost unbearable. She could hear the car peal out as Shawn took off.
