About a week had passed and Janis was showing fast improvements. The doctors
had never seen a patient with these conditions heal so quickly. The only problem
was he body strength. She had minor scratches on her arms and legs from the
glass and her muscles were weak. After being injured, Janis used every once of
strength she had to find help. The only thing she had to do now was regain
muscle strength.

There was nothing more the doctors could do, so they sent her home with
painkillers just in case, and a different pill, for her muscles.

(AT THE HOUSE)
Janis leaned over the sink about to wash the dishes. Brian had just gotten off
the phone with Celbie.

"Celbie's on her way over, and don't you dare touch those dishes!" He said
walking towards Janis
"It's just a couple of cups and a plate." Janis whined
"Exactly, there's no need to was them just yet. Now go sit down and stay off
your feet."

Janis walked out of the kitchen. Before going down the hall, Brian reminded her
of the time.

"So." Janis said with wide eyes
"So, it's time to take your pills." He said back
"But, I took them yesterday."
Brian tilted his head. "AJ?!?" He shouted
"Ok, ok…tattle teller." She said softly
"Heard that!"
Janis stuck her tongue out at him.
"Shut up." He said pointing his finger.

They smiled at each other before Janis disappeared into the hall.

After taking her pills, Janis looked at herself in the mirror. Taking a deep
breath, she sighed and closed her eyes. She looked back into the mirror and
softly touched her bruised cheek. She could feel tears forming so she left the
bathroom before anyone could walk in and see her.

She held on to the railings and forced herself up the stairs to Nicks room,
plopping herself on his big bean bag chair. She managed to stop herself from
crying, just as Kevin walked in.

"Hey…. What 'cha doin' up here?" He asked
"I like the bean bag. It's comfy."

Kevin took a seat next to her on the floor.

"You know…we only have about a week left together." Kevin said
"I know." She paused. "Kevin. I'm sorry…I would stay but"
"You don't have to apologize."
"But, I don't want to leave having you angry with me."
"I'm not angry. I will be upset when you leave, but then again, who wouldn't?
We're gonna miss you. And it's not something I want to loose a friendship over.
So, lets not spend this time worrying about this ok?"
"Ok." She replied
"Hey!" Nick said rushing into the room
"Officer Randal is here, she had some news for us… Oh, by the way… Celbie's here
too." He said smiling

Kevin helped Janis to her feet and down the stairs. AJ was on his way up, and
ran into them. Janis put her arm around his shoulders as he walked her down the
hall. She stated to get nervous and started shaking. She said hello to Celbie,
then focused on Officer Randal.

"Ok, I've got good news, and I've got some more good news. First of all, we need
to verify, is this Shawn?" She asked showing a picture to AJ
"Yes, that's him." AJ nodded
"Good. He was arrested at the airport this morning. He was caught trying to
leave."
"Where was he going?" Howie asked
"Don't know."
"So, what's the other good news?" Brian asked
"Oh that." Officer Randal said laughing. "I'm sorry, I'm just so proud of some
women these days." She said laughing. "You put up a good fight Janis, he didn't
look so good."

AJ looked down at Janis just as she was looking up to him.

"It was a strong ashtray." Janis said
"Well, I should go. I just thought you guys should know."
"Thank you." Kevin said

The officer turned toward the door, still laughing. "Oh, I'm gonna have fun
questioning him." She said. "So Shawn, you ass was kicked by a…. girl?!?" She
laughed while shaking her head.

She shut the door and everyone remained quiet.

"I like her." Celbie said, braking the silence.

They all laughed and went on to what they were doing.
