Down at the beach, they grabbed their stuff and headed out. Janis tried to give
Kevin a sign that she needed to talk, but he never caught on. She eventually
shrugged it off, she didn't want to ruin her fun.

After getting themselves set up, they were dying to get into the water.

"Hey Buger!!! Lets' go in!!!" Kevin said

Janis said ok, and ordered the others to go in too. Kevin took a step in the
water, about to dive in, when, Brian jumped on him and knocked him in the water.
Kevin finally surfaced gagging and coughing. Janis, Nick, Howie, and AJ stood
there laughing. Kevin turned around and looked at Janis.

"What are you laughing at?" He said sternly
"Yah…you're next!!" Brian said. Brian chased Janis, finally reaching her and
throwing her in the water. By then, the others were completely in.

They started playing around and splashing each other when AJ pulled Kevin's
arm.

"I need to talk to you Train." AJ said
"Ok, I'll work something out," Kevin said, knowing that now was not the time. He
knew what AJ wanted to talk about.

After a while, they all went out to get something to drink.

Janis sat down next to Brian, Howie and Nick. AJ and Kevin remained standing.

"Hey, AJ, lets go for a walk." Kevin said

AJ tossed his towel down and said okay. Grabbing their drinks, they headed down
the beach. Janis kept her eyes on AJ the whole time, not noticing the other
three watching her.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer." Brian joked
"Oh, sorry." Janis said, floating back to earth.
"Som'm wrong?" He asked
"Not really… it's just that every time they go off together, I get nervous."
Janis said, playing with the tab on her soda.
"You have a little thing there for AJ, don't cha?" Howie said
Janis looked back at the two walking farther away. "Well… to be honest… I think
I'm falling in love with him." Janis looked at their non-surprised faces and put
her head down.

On the other end, AJ had to think of a way to explain himself.

"C'mon AJ, I know there's something bothering you and there's no doubt it's
about Janis… You really like her don't you?" Kevin said
"I'm in love with her, Kevin" AJ said hesitantly "I've only known her for three
days, and everything I know, I love. It's like…she'll be walking around the
house and, I'll just want to throw my arms around her and never let go. Do you
think it's crazy to love someone after such a short period of time?" AJ asked
"No, it's not crazy. It's so easy to fall in love with that girl. She's
everything a guy would want…hell, I wanted her."
"Why didn't you take her?" AJ asked
"Because it didn't feel right. We felt better as friends."
AJ sighed and looked down. "The bad thing is, she doesn't show any interest…what
if I still love her when she wants to be friends? I won't know what to do."
"It may seem like that in the beginning." Kevin said smiling.
"What do you mean?" AJ asked
"She may seem like she has no interest, but that's only because she's afraid to
love. Every person she has ever been with or loved, either physically or
emotionally hurt her… I wanted to kill the one that physically hurt her…" Kevin
explained
"PHYSICALLY?!?!?!?" AJ repeated
"Yah, when we were just starting to be best friends, her boyfriend at the time,
Scott, used to hurt her… badly… she'd run to my house when he used to leave
after beating her…" Kevin stated with his head down "Once, he nearly killed
her…. Since then, she never had a steady relationship. If I didn't know the
person, there was no way in hell I would let her get involved. She knows when
she's in love, she'll fell it, but she won't show it. Not until she knows the
person will return the feelings she has for him…" Kevin paused yet again, then
looked back at AJ. "So if you are serious about her and want something with her,
you're gonna have to be patient. Don't rush her into saying something you want
to hear. The best think to do right now is to tell her how you feel. And take
it slow from there. She needs someone like you."
AJ looked down at the sand for a short while and looked back to where Janis was
sitting. She was laughing and throwing sand at Nick. "I can't believe anyone
would want to hurt her!!!"
"Neither can I Bone, neither can I…" Kevin said looking at AJ
"Thanks Kev!!' AJ said
"Sure" Kevin said. "Oh, one more thing…. If you hurt her, I kill you" Kevin gave
AJ a huge smile and bat his eyes.
AJ laughed at the way Kevin made his face, and turned to look at Janis again.
"Don't worry, if I hurt her, I'll kill myself."

They smiled at each other, and turned around. Kevin put his arm around AJ's
shoulder and they started walking back.
