Chapter 3

Four hours, three clubs and many drinks later, the ladies were on the floor
shakin what their mommas gave em to Sonique, "Feels So Good".  They were
having a blast, laughing, dancing, talking, and just enjoying being together
again.  When the song ended, they all headed for the table, laughing.  "Oh
god, this feels so good just to be with my friends again!" Kristy said as she
sank into her chair.  Kristin laughed.  "You know you'd rather be with Nick,
don't lie!  You're just having a good time cuz you didn't have a choice."
she accused with a grin.  Kristy grinned back.  "Guilty, but so are all the
rest of you except Shan, she's way too happy to be outta the house!  What
gives, girl?" she asked.  Suddenly all eyes were on Shannon, who looked back
with an innocent expression on her face.  "Why Kristy, whatever do you mean?
I'm just enjoying the company of my best friends!  Is there something wrong
with that?" she asked.  Carrie laughed.  "Now I know something's up!  She's
not drunk, or she'd never be able to pull off that innocent look.  What are
you up to, Shannon Cortney?" she demanded.  Shannon raised both hands.

"I'm not up to anything, I swear!  I didn't even arrange this, Nick did.
Anything that happens is his fault, by the way." she said quickly.  Now the
girls all looked at each other.  "And just what the hell does that mean?"
Amber began, but stopped when Leighanne pointed to the door.  "I think that's
what it means." she said, indicating their boyfriends and husbands walking in
the door.  Shannon shrugged, and got up to head for the dance floor as
"Faded" by Soul Decision started to play.  "Dunno anything, I'm just gonna
dance now!" she said, then she started dancing her way through the crowd.
The rest of the girls looked at each other again and laughed as they got up
and joined her on the dance floor.
