The girls sat in the mall food court laughing and talking, catching up on what had happened since the last time they saw each other. They were unaware that they were the objects of many appreciative glances from young men, especially the five who were trying not to be noticed.
"Oh my god, you actually got a tattoo? Shan, I never thought you would!" Amber laughed. I shrugged, blushing lightly. "Well, I always wanted one, I just couldn’t find one that would make me overcome my fear of needles until a couple months ago. It’s not that big of a deal, Ambs. Carries got four, you know." I said. She grinned. "Yeah, but you? Okay, I’m only teasing. So, any new men in your lives?" she teased. Carrie laughed out loud.
"Yeah, right! No, were both still single. Were holding out for real men, not the weirdo's we have in Rutland." she explained. Amber sighed. "Tell me about it. I live in California, and I have the same problem. So what are you looking for in a guy?" she asked curiously. Carrie grinned. "Someone with a sense of humor who also knows how to be serious. Someone who likes to have fun, but doesn't mind staying in and cuddling. Someone who is mature enough to want a serious relationship, but young enough to not be stuffy. It wouldn't hurt if he was cute, and had a really deep voice, either. He doesn't have to be really tall, but definitely taller than me. And of course, he has to be completely in love with me." she finished lightly. We all giggled, then Amber turned to me. "What about you, Shannon?" she asked. I sighed. "First of all, he has to be family-oriented, because I am. Tall, cute to gorgeous, sweet, funny, fun to be with, likes hugging and being hugged, willing to talk AND listen, serious when its time for it, loves me passionately, or at least likes me passionately, likes to dance, will give me flowers, even if its just dandelions that he picked off the lawn. Someone I can snuggle with on the couch after a hard day at work and watch horror movies with. It doesn't matter if he's rich, as long as he has a job. And if he has a great smile and beautiful eyes, that would be really awesome." I said. Then I grinned at her. "Okay, you, what do you want in a guy?"
Amber grinned too. "Well, pretty much the same as you guys. Someone to have fun with who loves me, and wants to take care of me. Not necessarily financially, I have a great job that I love, but emotionally. Someone who will hold me when I cry and rub my back. Someone I can call in the middle of the night when I'm scared. Tall is good, but gorgeous isn't necessary. I do like my men dark, though, I'm not big on blondes. Sweet, sexy, sensual. Someone who will take me to a chick flick and hold me when I cry without making fun of me. You know, the perfect man!" she said. We all laughed, then sighed.
Two tables away, the five guys grinned at each other. "What do you think?" JC asked casually. Joey grinned. "The blond is mine. You guys fight over the two redheads." He said. They all laughed. Lance smiled slightly. "I think I like the one with the lighter hair, Carrie. Besides, she wants a guy with a deep voice." he teased. The other three looked at each other, then Justin said quietly, "I like the other one, Shannon." That was all he said, but that was all that needed to be said. JC and Chris sighed. "Well, maybe they have a couple of friends we can hang out with." they said. They watched for a while more, then split up to do some shopping. |
