Psychedelic dreams of New Orleans
keep dancing thru my mind,
i see the lacy balconies
of another time
but guns & amps shake her soul,
and something just ain't right!
her mood & spirit ain't the same
she's gettin wound up tight!
a neighborhood will fade away
Disneyquarter is where you'll play
another theme park is where you'll stay
the residents will turn and cower
unless we stop & smell their flowers
this Quarter's charm will fade in hours...

"think about it..."

It wouldn't be NAWLINS without our parades!
not just during Carnival season but any excuse anyone has to "secondline" including the famous jazz funerals...life is a parade!

here's Rex, the King of Carnival who officially opens Mardi gras day!
in June, there's a tomato festival in the Quarter that celebrates the arrival of the season's first creole tomatoes...

these tomatas are throwin beads...
and here's someone famous for paradin down Bourbon Street, the legendary Pete Fountain!

Boats have been seen on the streets...
...as well as the usual bands of roving raving lunatics!

(doesn't this midi sound a lot like a riverboat caliope?)

there's just too much FUN & not enough TIME!

will tell you the party's over, the streets will be cleaned and a head count will be made by the city based on how many tons of trash were collected... It'll be all over---til next year!

MARDI GRAS gardeners partied out since 2/8/98...

TIP FOR EASY RIDERS & QUAKEMOBILES: Be considerate & be careful-- angry residents often hurl paint balls and flying objects at those who circle their block...
