Birdie's Status

Birdie is very friendly.  He loves to spend his rest time with family members. For example, on some occasions when taking a nap, I've slowly  become aware of a small warm creature resting on my hand. If I'm napping in the fetal position, and open my eyes slowly I find myself beak to beak with a sleeping bird. That's cool.

norest-wb.jpg (9197 bytes) This is the real thing.

He wasn't always so patient. When he was younger, he would fasten himself to my ear with his sharp toes and "CHIRP!" right into the ear.   He has very good lungs. Where does he keep them?

It could be worse and once, and only once, it was.  He decided to open my eyelid with his very sharp and strong beak.  It's not even funny, even now.

In the morning, Birdie does not land on me until I show signs of life. That does not stop him from making reconnaissance flights so low that his feet scrape the covers or exposed limbs.

Once I'm awake, he comes in for a carrier landing on my head.   That is, he slides across my unprotected head with his sharp nails until they gain purchase. When he takes off, he pushes off with the same sharp nailed feet.

It has always amazed me that a sentient being can be contained in such a little package.  There can be no doubt he has an understanding of human anatomy, a fact that truly surprises me. He clearly knows the function of eyes and ears.  When he lands on my or my wife's head and wants attention, he climbs down the face until he can be seen.   The next picture is an example and common experience.

Birdie can be said to be a skilled musician.  Do you know how loud a small cowbell can be?

Ringing the bell is one of the first steps of his morning routine. This picture would be sharper but it was early and everything seem bleary.

One plausible explanation of Birdie and his behavior is that he is a visitor...from outer space. This picture was taken by a hidden camera.

We don't know when this landing took place. We do know where.

This is called, "Can you find the bird?"

Every night, before he goes to sleep he feeds each of his mirrors.  It seems to take hours.

Well done, now find Birdie's cousin Fonzie.  Fonzie is a Quaker with his own WebPages ( click on Fonzie's picture to go there). Quakers are two to three times Budgie size).
