Dear Dr. Kostovic:

  I am writing in regard to the status of my colleague Dr. Marijan 
Jost of the Agricultural Institute Krizevci, University of Zagreb. 
I was surprised to learn recently that Dr. Jost still has not been 
reinstated to his professorship by the Institute, long after the 
Courts found Dr. Jost's suspension from his position to be without 
basis.

  Dr. Jost and I have done cooperative research and published 
several scientific papers together over the past decade. I have 
worked personally with him on two trips to Croatia and during one 
visit he made to the United States. Dr. Jost is an internationally
recognized and accomplished scientist, with many contributions to 
make in agricultural research. But his efforts are severely hampered 
while he continues to be shut out of his professorship.

  I earnestly hope that you will be able to intervene in this matter 
and help Dr. Jost recover his position in the University and his 
good name, as he has been unjustly deprived of both. Thank you very
