Zagreb, 22nd February 1996 Dear Dr. Cox, Thank you for the concern for your colleague Dr. Marijan Jošt of the Agricultural Institute in Krizevci, University Zagreb.I am writing to you in order to inform you of the present situation about Dr.Jošt and his professional status. Dr. Jošt has been given his previous post at the Agricultural Institute in Krizevci after the legal court's decision (the last court decision dated 30th March 1995) that he should be returned to work at the Institute. However, Dr. Jošt is not satisfied with the fact that the same Dean that was at the head of the Institute when he got suspended remained at the same function, so Dr. Jošt is trying to remove the present Dean from his post. Dr. Jošt would like to return to his post if the present Dean would be replaced. Dr. Marijan Jošt is an internationally recognized scientist, but has difficulties in achieving a full and fruitful cooperation with his colleagues and superiors. In the end the matter comes to the fact that legally speaking Dr.Jošt has been given his previous post, but is still engaged in legal suits and similar non-scientific work. I see no way to intervene in this matter, since legally and administratively the Ministry of Science and Technology has done everything that was in its power to settle the dispute at the Agricultural Institute between Dr. Jošt and other members of the mentioned institution. I sincerely hope that I have managed to bring you closer to this complicated and regretful issue. Thank you very much for the care that you have shown for this Croatian scientist.
