Today's peace movement, anticipated by all the religious prophets, by Horace Greeley, Theodore Parker, and so many others throughout history who had no idea that ever mankind would create weapons that could finally and totally destroy "all of us" in a single blow-- nuclear weapons, therefore, being an insane challenge to all human history and achievements to date and until the threat is eliminated--is more than just a popular consensus to get rid of the nukes.
It is a battle agains the misuse of finite resources.
It is resistance to exploitation in the new poverty created by a modern class struggle.
It is courage against the fear induced by the "military-industrial complex" Dwight Eisenhower cautioned the American people and world against, in his final U.S. Presidential address in 1961.
It is a struggle against racism and religious persecution in their many forms today--as certainly it should be with respect for the sacrifices and losses suffered by the parents and grandparents of the majority of its members in World War Two for the same cause.
It is truth vs. the "disinformation" that has so poisoned human and international relations in recent years. (And i do point out at this point that there are continuous and obviously contingent references in the contents of my book and how successful each undertaking was to my 1978 reports. I am requesting they be disclosed for inclusion in this book. If they are not here, i will leave a blank page in remembrance of the specific time in human history when truth ceased to be reality in this still turbulent world.)
And relating to the need for the truth, today's peace movement is respect for the past and eyes for the future--for the generations and children yet to come. For the real achievement of the dreams of "all of us" now and in future for the betterment of humanity.
Accordingly, i introduce my book about my "International Diplomatic Work...on a direct
basis" by tipping my hat to those who preceded me. I know personally how much you must
have had to endure from my own experience and respect you for it.
I quote again exactly what it was that America's great World War Two hero and last fully
successful two-term U.S. President advised "all of us" to beware of after he left office
in 1961.
If "history teaches," what Dwight Eisenhower said was:
"This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience....We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications....In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disasterous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist."*
