Tell me Sheffield councillor
when you gave yourself a rise
did you give a thought to war pensioners?
Some sacraficed their eyes.

You got your rise so easily
you didn't have to beg
as we do for our disregard
some lost an arm or leg.

You knew you'd get your money
not one of you were fearing
your request would be met with a deaf ear
as we who lost our hearing.

You do your sums and tell us
you can't afford the cost
to compensate a war widow
for the husband that she lost.

Unlike most other councils
who say "Keep ALL your pension."
you say, as you grab 90 percent
"Help you, we've no intention."

Does your conscience never trouble you
at night when you lie abed
or do you think roll on the day
when war pensioners are dead?
