- Saif and mujeeb paly cops and robberes with the cricket team. While one brother has been made the head of BCCP the other brother Saif ur Rehman has framed charges of match fixing against wasim akram, salim malik and ejaz ahmed and suspended them from playing for pakistan. Frightened all the senior players present in pakistan trooped into meet Mujeeburrehman. Mujiburrehman is to appoint Naushad who played a few tests for pakistan as his cricket consultant.Naushad and Salim Altaf are mainly considred the culprits in trying to destroy the Pakistani team by trying to replace seniors with untested juniors. The pakistani team was barely able to recover from their experiments and made a creditable showing in the worldcup but fell apart in the last match mainly due to inexperience and overconfidence which some say was deliberate. Some have suggested that waqar younis or moin khan maybe be appointed captain and the expensive(9 lakhs per month salary)Miandad be appointed coach. Others suggest the volatile and undependable Amer sohail as captain. There has been one newspaper report that suggests that wasim akram is a diabetes patient and that he was totally tired out in the last few matches and was unable to bowl and play at his best. Still others suggest that even the juniors , saqlain, afridi, razzak and others were involved in throwing matches although at the behest of differing organizations

- Nawaz Sharif is being regarded by everyone as the person responsible for the kargil fiasco with some blame falling on the army chief as well. It might as things stand at the moment be the last fiasco that pakistan has to endure under the increasingly pathetic nawaz regime. After the PPP demo in Lahore which saw around 10000 people turn up the jamaat e islami went one better and organized an anti nawaz kargil rally in lahore with around 30000 people attending. The MQM true toits nature is mounting a lonely protest campaign in Karachi over the killing of 14 workers after its campaign to mount protest demos in foreign capitals failed. There is a counter campaign by the Voice Of Karachi(VOK) which protests the brutality of MQM terrorists. Nawaz has lost the support of a substantial faction of his party over his kargil antics and has the support only of the tiny pro India ANP from the opposition. Even the relatively mild imran khan is threatening to mount a remove nawaz campaign.A subsatantial faction in the PMLn considers that nawaz was unaware of the consequences and could not handle the operation . He seemed inexperienced and had no knowledge of the strategies and methods to handle Indian propaganda , Western pressure and military tactics. Some in his party are now calling for the Jehangir Keramat solution of forming a national security council of defence experts which could handle day to day problems in any conflict and shield the political leadership from the consequences and humiliation .Some reports suggest that the kargil drama was planned in October 1998 while others suggest that it was planned in February 1999. Benazir says that she shot down two such plans suggested to her by the military and that she had reached an agreement with Rajiv on the return of the kargil area to pakistan. The Indians say they have now cleared the kargil area of all enemy forces. The Pakistan army has now admitted to over 300 casaulties and over a 100 injured and is discusiing a two kilometer buffer between the two opposing armies in the kargil region. There are some reports that about a hundred odd mujahideen who lost their lives defending a strategic hilltop were buried there and the Indians did not make any effort to return the bodies to pakistan. This could be a possible admission that they were not pakistani infiltrators or that the Pakistanis were not willing to risk asking India for the return of the bodies.Nawaz on the other hand continues tobe unaware of the severe reactions to his failure amongst the populace and his recent atatement makes it obvious in which he says that Kashmir will soon be a part of pakistan and that they had consulted all friends before making the decision to withdraw. Sartaj Aziz on the other hand has asked India to withdraw from the areas that it has occupied. The decision to withdraw it has now been revealed was made when the US general Zinni visted pakstan much before any consultations with allies. There are also reports that Niaz A Naik and RK Mishra shuttled between the capitals on what is being called the track two approach to settle minor details. There are also some muted voices emerging from the tightly knit PMLn for the replacement of nawaz possibly by Ijazul Haq. A fall election is now also considered a possibility

- In what is being regarded as a defeat bigger than the loss of east pakistan to the Indian army, Nawaz Sharif has effectively lost the battle of Kargil.. Some say he has sold out Kashmir for good too. Confidence gained by the liberation of kargil, drass, batalik, mushko and tololing hills by mujahideen was dashed as the reputably weak kneed and cowardly oriented nawaz sharif collapsed and offered to withdraw the mujahideen without getting anything in return apart from(and this is no joke)the interest of US president clinton. While India has gained a pshycological advantage by fighting ruthlessly in the face of overwhelming casualties and bombing a few mujahideen holed up on mountain peaks and reportedly capturing several the Pakistani primeminister has gained the aliases of coward, traitor and trader of Kashmir . Never has there been such a consensus in independent circles as to the traitorous nature of the PMLn boss. Nawaz Sharif apparently agreed to cooperate with the Indians in Washington. That was apparent as the anti pakistan pro Indian western media broadcast Nawaz Sharifs Abdullah Niazi type surrender speech. A primeminister who had gained much support by not cowing to western pressure and exploding a nuclear device literally caved in. He made a mad dash to Washington and offered to withdraw the mujahideen from kargil without any pressure from anyone. Within days of his return fron Washington a disengagement was announced as the mujahideen apparently withdrew from most of the conquered areas. The ISPR the armies information arm announced that disengagement had been completed in several areas but they had no idea where the mujahideen had gone as there was no communication with the mujahideen(than how do u know that disengagement has been completed).
In the aftermath pakistan has been left feeling weak, unprotected, unsure, unsteady and its cowardly primeminister is said tobe moving towards his political deathbed. Why the primeminister scuttled an occupation before even negotiations or a ceasefire shows the Indians domination over the establishment and is difficult to comprehend. The Pakistani media is only able to come up with such lame laughable excuses as supreme national interest and avoiding unbearable destruction .Accrding to observers the primeminister collapsed mentally and lost the resolve to see the situation thru. Some suggest that Clinton pummeled nawaz with threats in his closed door meeting reportedly also attended by two Indian generals.Nawaz despite already having ordered a pullback succumbed and ran home whimpering with his tail between his legs. What was achieved by bravery and astute planning had been lost by cowardice.Never has there been in Pakistani history such a cowardly lahoria(resident of lahore) who are known for their gusto, bravado and fighting spirit. The attitude of the pakistani GOP has reflected fright ,cowardice, and an inability to handle an even slightly touchy situation.Their pullback has the foreign ministry in tangles as they describe the LOC as having sanctity, something that cannot be changed (by pakistan) and still not acceptable as a final solution.India on the other hand has gained courage and confidence with vajpayee already declaring it as his territory and asking nawaz to sign a final armistice foregoing Kashmir forever.Since it is well known that nothing can be achieved thru negotiations pakistans stance is one of accepting humiliation and defeat. The situation on the table is the same as it was in 1963 with India having gained what an enemy should never be allowed to achieve -confidence and a phsychological superiority. Military superiority and an overwhelming edge in weaponry is another plus. The Indians have gained a mental advantage and anything that nawaz utters does not worry or frighten them.It is therefore necessary that a compromised primeminister and meek foreign ministry officials make way for tougher characters. One would also recommend that the COAS resign and accept responsibility if nawaz is not willing too. - In related news the GOP is contemplating the removal of Punjab governor Shahid Hamid and replacing him with retired Lt general Naseer Akhter. Naseer Akhter is credited with crushing the MQM insurgency in Karachi in a professional manner and is said to have narrowly missed becoming the COAS

- Ghaus Ali Shah has been removed as minister for education and appointed as Advisor to the primeminister on Sind affairs in which post he will run the Sind province. Some suggest that a former foreign secretary Niaz A Naik who holds views on a Kashmir solution different from the GOP has visited India on behest of the govt while an Indian journalist RK Mishra visited pakistan in the company of an Indian foreign ministry official.
