To someone, like our President, who's never been there, it's impossible to describe what being in a firefight is like. He should try it. | Pinned down! L.T., call for support! The worst possible scenario played itself out time and again when troops were the victims rather than the perpetrators of an ambush. Artillery or airborne support were usually the only way out of this kind of situation. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| We've got wounded! Urgently request Dust Off, over! Short, furious firefights invariably led to wounded troops. Thanks to the brave helicopter pilots, more men survived grievous wounds than in any war before this one. Helicopters would be on the scene, sometimes before the fighting was over to medivac the wounded to nearby aid stations and hospitals. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
