The gentleman in the front of the middle row was my great-great-grandfather, George Nelson Cook. The elderly patriarch was a British immigrant, and the elderly matriarch was from the Alsace-Lorraine in France. One of the women in this picture was a founding mother of Alpha Xi Delta, an international Panhellenic sorority.
