This page is to tell you a little more about me. I live in Appomattox.I don't get to do much talking on the radio anymore due to work. I am now a Graduate of Lynchburg College (Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine with emphasis in Athletic Training and Minor in Sports Managemenet) but participated in Cross Country and Track all four years as well as three years of athletic training. Our cross country team is just outside the NCAA top 25 rankings and our track teams stay ranked inside the top 10. To see my times click here.
I am also an Emergency Medical Technicial/Basic. Not that I have completed my first four years of school, I will be striving to finish the 1500 hours to fullfill the requirements of hands on experience for the National Athletic Trainers' Association and then may I qualify to complete and pass the certification test required by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification. That will also qualify me for some gaduate assistant positions for grad school. Then is where I will be credited as a Certified Athletic Trainer(ATC). So far (as of May 10, 2002), I have 989 hours, meaning 511 hours left.
Depending on my chances of attending the Univeristy of Virginia for a Master's degree, I may choose to upgrade my status from the Basic level to a possible Cardiac Technician this summer.
Before school, I spend a lot of my spare time on the radio doing some major broadcasting across the country. My farthest contact has been to Sydney, Australia. That same night I talked to New Zeland. As much as I like talking skip, I really enjoy talking to my local friends. Usually, it's channel 28 (27.285 MHz), sometimes channel 27 (27.275 MHz), and during hunting season, on channel 11.5 (27.095 MHz, that's channel 11 + 10Kz shift).

Not only do I run a Cobra 2000 GTL as a base station with a Ham International ground plane and a set of Shooting Star beams, I also have a Galixy DX66V for a mobile. My current antenna of choice is the Wilson 1000 or 5000, but the older model "Big Mamma" by Antenna Specialist is also a good antenna. A word of thumb, you can spend all the money you want to on a radio, linear amplifiars, echo boxes, microphones, and modulators, but if you don't have a good antenna, it's all junk.

Speaking of 27.095, being my hunting channel, I should also mention the use of tracking collars on dogs. My family has a set and love them dearly. Here's more information.
