Game 11 Summary: Potomac 60 Mater

February 18, 1999 - In the eleventh game of the season, the
Potomac 7th grade basketball team beat Mater Dei 60-38 on the road. |
Potomac jumped out to an early lead in the game by invoking their expert
passing attack and pressure defense. The Panthers led 14-8 after the first quarter.
Mater Dei came storming back in the second quarter to make the game close as
Potomac went cold at the offensive end. The Panther held a slim 3 point lead 16-13
at the half. In the third quarter, both teams went on a scoring binge, by scoring 17 points each in the quarter, with Potomac maintaining their 3 point lead 33-30 after three. In the fourth quarter, the Panthers buckled down and just executed. Potomac scored 27 points in the fourth quarter, a season high and just stomped all over Mater Dei. The Final score 60-38, Potomac. Three players scored in double digits for Potomac with Brent Locey leading the way with 20 points followed by Michael Fischer with 18 and Chris McNerney with 10. Michael Fischer also had 5 assists in the game. JD Deardourff was perfect from the line scoring 4 points and Michael Murphy went 2-4 from the field also scoring 4 points. Potomac shot very well from the foul line going 14-20. Potomac's record improves to 9-2 for the season with the win.
