My 2 cents Worth

(or.... Just My Opinion)

You know those questionnaires you get from your friends in the e-mail? The ones where everyone
answers the questions and then sends them on to everyone else. The idea is to share a little info (things that only friends would know) about yourself, with your friends .
(What's under your bed? First car? Favorite color? etc.)
There's a question "Who would you most like to meet?", I've always answered The Dalai Lama -
to have his sense of peace and clarity..... to witness it first hand would be a lifetime experience!
I think, I would have to add Bill Phillips to my list of people I'd like to meet. Not, as a winning
competitior of the BFL Challenge (although I have to admit that would be sweet), or Bill the Motivator/Coach, but I'd rather meet Bill the person. I get the sense, from his writing, that he too
has a sense of clarity, a peace of mind. I truly believe, everyone should have someone like that in their
lives. Of course I'd have to meet him to know for sure = )

I hear too many people say "It's just not possible to achieve THOSE results in 12 weeks"
Honestly, I don't know how much time the first competitors had to finish their challenge. I do KNOW I achieved "those" results in 12 weeks, and the new champions achieved theirs in 12 weeks.

This champion or that champion "didn't follow the book"
You can look at the archived articles at Muscle Media and read essentially what is in Bill's book.....
Even Kelly Adair says this. (You can find her pages on my Links page.)....remember now, the first competitors were Muscle Media readers, so were some of the new Champions. Compiling these articles, along with the successes of the Champions into book form was a natural next step in achieving the goal of 1,000,000 lives transformed.

"He recommends EAS because it's his company and he'll make money"
My first challenge, (1999) IF you used supplements, EAS or it's subsidiary companies were the only
supplement products allowed. Last year,(2000) IF you use supplements, you used what what worked for you. The only exception, no ephedra. This year (2001) ephedra products are allowed and at least 1 (one) EAS brand supplement must be used.
Ephedra's herbal use is for speeding up a slow heart. Even half dosage can make you feel
like it's trying to jump out of your chest. With the aerobic solution's high intensity our hearts are already pumping at a pretty good rate, at least mine is. The effects of it's usage on a heart that has an unknown defect could be disastrous. Please, if you are considering using an ephedra product KNOW your medical history, including parents history!
And, part of the prize package is an EAS spokesman contract, it would make sense that the spokesman had at least used one of the products!
There are other companies jumping on the transformation "bandwagon"
they insist you use their products, some even insist you buy "
X" amount EVERY month before they'll even consider you.
By the way, I know of NO business owner who DOESN'T want their company to succeed, myself included.

Another note on supplement use: If you're going to use supplements, please research what you're considering using, not all supplements are equal. Some ingredients can be dangerous, especially if you exceed recommended dosage. Some contain ingredients you may already be getting with other supplements. Look for scientific backing, and read that study and others on the product/ingredient. Be an informed consumer!

You have to go through the "cutting" or "rip" phase before you take your after photos.
Show me ONE Champion who ripped before their photo shoot.
*(See the September 2000 issue Muscle Media - ok a couple champions ripped but it's classified RISKY)
OK, I'm not going to tell you not to cut or rip for your photo shoot. Let me just say this:
You only have a few days after your 12 weeks to take your photos - why would you be intent on unhealthy
practices after you've just spent the last 12 weeks establishing some VERY healthy habits?? Why tear down
hard earned muscle tissue?? If you started your 12 weeks at the end of the round, cutting means giving up an
entire week of potentially your greatest progress just to tear down what you've been working so hard to build.
Yes, the Challenge is classified an Amateur Body Building Contest. Let me remind you, however, HALF your
score comes from your essay answers. To win, if that is your goal, you have to show an entire MIND- BODY
transformation. It's the whole package they're looking at, NOT just who built the best body.
I would much rather spend that extra time absorbing all I had accomplished and finding the best words to express all I feel. No easy task in itself.
It's been 6 months, as I write this, since completing my FIRST challenge. I'm only just now realizing the
true magnitude of my transformation. The changes are still occurring and still amazing me.
Over a year later, I can look back, and am amazed at how totally different I am these days, and yet still evolving!

But That's Just My Opinion.
