Forever

I can't help it. I just have to say it; but if I do I'll be branded a nark. Forever.

It started three days ago. Matthew sat on the mat bawling his eyes out because his $250 dollars for the trip to Parliament had been taken. Mr Jackson interrogated everyone, but no one owned up. I was asked to go with Matthew to ring his mum. I stood next to him while he rang her. She was pretty upset, I mean it's not everyday that $250 dollars disappears.

At lunch I walked passed the netball courts. I over heard Jo talking. Jo is a girl in room 7 and the most popular kid in school. I heard "I found tonnes of money" and I couldn't listen any longer. I had to tell.

So there I was, standing next to Mr Jackson's desk. I spilled the whole story. Then came the shout "JOANNA!!". The whole class turned and stared, I was so embarrassed. Mr Jackson told me to go and get her.

I knocked on the door and was asked to enter. I asked feebly to talk to Jo. By this time I felt really bad. No one would have dobbed this badly on Jo.

We walked back to the classroom. Mr Jackson looked like our hot water cylinder after dad attempted to fix it. I mean it's not everyday your niece gets accused of theft.

I dreaded lunch time. Jo walked up to me with her mob. She had a smile on her face. Maybe it was the face she wore when she was going to bash someone up. I backed up towards the wall, but then a strange thing happened. She talked to me. The most popular kid in school actually talked to me, a scrauny little computer buff. She told her mob to back off. Maybe she wanted to finish me off herself. She told me the entire story about the money. "I took the money down to the Cop Shop," she said, " Matthew's ringing them now. I'm glad you dobbed me in otherwise Matthew would never have got it back.

"So now me and Jo are best of friends. Forever."
