Butterflies are bright and colourful insects and we are going to make some of our very own!
You will need: | ||||
Acrylic Paints | A Pencil | A pair of scissors
Light cardboard, sheet of paper (photocopy or cartridge) A4 or letter size, old newspaper.
Now here's what we
do. 1. First, we need to make a template or model for our butterfly because butterflies are symmetrical (the same on each side) we are going to make a "special" template. Here is a small picture of it: |
||||
Click on the picture
to enlarge it.
2. Print the butterfly template on to paper and cut it out. 3. Fold your piece of A4/letter photocopy or printer paper in half longwise (see picture -->) |
4. Now paint a colourful
"butterfly" pattern on HALF of the sheet, leave the other half
of the sheet blank. be sure to use the paint thickly and don't go to
close to the outside edges of the sheet.
5. Carefully fold the paper over on its self and press down, be careful the paint doesn't spill on your clothes. Unfold and see the same design on each side of the paper, cool!. |
||
6. Now let the paint dry
when it has refold the paper and get your template.
7. Lay your template out along the fold in the paper so the wings point away from the fold, now cut out around your template and unfold your butterfly. Now that's a really cool butterfly! |
