Provider's Poem
I greet the kids at six-ten
Give them breakfast, settle in.
Ashton's learning ABC's
(Adam, don't eat crayons, please)
Someone's knocking at the door,
(We mustn't fingerpaint the floor!)
Let's have lunch and then clean up.
(Marissa, please don't tip your cup)
Baby Mackenzie's on my lap,
Story time and then a nap.
Have a snack, then go outside,
(The doggie can't give horsey-rides)
Six-o'clock - the mom's are here,
Collect the coats and papers and gear.
Want to see me throw a fit?
Tell me I just "babysit!"

Well, If you haven't noticed already, I love working with the children in my home. I really like the poem above because it fits our day to a "T". I changed the names in the poem to fit us here. The children seem to enjoy their days here also. I give the type of care that I give to my own children. We do many activities while at my home. The children learn through play. I believe that play is the best tool for teaching and the best way for children to learn. We need to make learning fun and something that they will enjoy. Most of the time they learn without realizing it! :0)
Doing daycare can be a stressful, but VERY rewarding career. I don't think that it is a choice for everyone, but I enjoy working out of my home and being able to be here with my family. I am thankful that I am able to do this, and that the parents trust me with their most valuable "treasures". And what a JOY they are to have around! We love them as part of our own family, and the greatest reward would be to know that I have made a difference in their lives, just as they have in mine!
