It just gets curiouser and curiouser, and with the next book nowhere
in sight due to a jump to a new publishing house we may not see it
for a while yet. Still, it does grant me time to finally get this
page up (the browser has eaten the fully written page twice now).
(make that thrice)
Anyhow . . . the second book delves primarily into Pierce's
childhood which, though covered in the last book, is drawn
more in depth here. The scenes of life with his Oliphant cousins
and mysterious neighbour Bobbie Shaftoe are compelling,
but their length takes up a good deal of the book and often left
me wondering when we were going to get back to the present.
A question which Crowley wraps up rather abruptly in the last few
chapters, and more specifically in the last few pages, but
you realize that had you not read the sections on the past the fully
integrated future makes no sense whatsoever.
The release date for the next volume Demonmania has been set at July, 1998.
At the current writing it is February, 1999. I suspect this is due to
the move to a new publishing house. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.
Back to the house at the edge of the woods.
